Meet the Mama
Hi, I’m Jasmin! I’m just a busy, small town mama from Utah with some big dreams. Dreams that include helping YOU become a healthier and better self! The others involve me transitioning to an all natural household and keeping my sanity.
My goal is to help busy moms like you feel better mentally, physically, and emotionally, and do to that I feel like I need to be somewhat of an open book about my story. Hopefully this gives you a little insight on why I’m doing what I’m doing!
I am married to the absolute love of my life (seriously, he’s a saint), and I have four crazy kiddos. Kourtlyn is my fiery redhead and my bonus daughter, Logan is the brains of the group, Tayton is my sweet, sensitive, fearless boy, and Carter June is my tiny curly headed baby. These kids are the inspiration behind this page!
Growing up, I was a dancer and played volleyball and softball (badly). I also ran track and was a cheerleader. I had a naturally fit body and didn’t really have to work much for it. I would literally bring Burger King to dance practice with me and it didn’t affect me in the slightest.
When I was 17, I got pregnant with Logan. I took that as a free pass to sit on my butt and eat whatever I wanted for the next nine months or so. BIG mistake. I gained 60 pounds with that pregnancy, I was absolutely miserable toward the end, and ended up having an emergency C-section. By some miracle, I managed to lose the baby weight and get back to my pre-pregnancy shape. When I got pregnant with Tayton 14 months later, I promised myself I would have a fit pregnancy this time around. Boy, was I wrong. I had severe morning sickness among other things for over four months, and I actually ended up losing 20 pounds before I was able to start gaining weight. Working out was totally out of the question and then I gained 40 pounds in the last four months of the pregnancy.
I had a much harder time getting my body back into shape after I had Tayton. Some circumstances flipped my life upside down and I found myself living back with my parents. It was at this point that I realized I was at the heaviest I had ever been aside from my pregnancies, and I was MISERABLE. I decided right then and there that I was done living this way and it was time to turn my life around. I ordered the 21 Day Fix Extreme program and Shakeology and got to work! I completely fell in love with fitness and decided THIS was something I could do for the rest of my life.
I met my (now) husband Courtney just a couple months later, and I have never been happier or healthier! He makes me want to try harder and be a better person. When we found out we were pregnant with Carter, we decided she would be our last baby and I told myself THIS was my chance. This time around, I’m going to have a fit pregnancy. No matter how bad my morning sickness was and no matter how tired I was, I was going to work out as often as possible. And I did! I was able to keep my weight gain to 30 pounds, and I had an incredibly easy delivery and recovery with her, especially with it being a C-section.
I’ve recently had to sit down and evaluate my life; what makes me truly happy besides being a wife and mother? How can I capitalize on that happiness so I am able to do it for the rest of my life? And how can I help other people at the same time? The answer came to me clear as day: fitness. It was something I already loved to do, and I have even been able to help a few people along the way. If you are here, you’re probably a mother or soon to be one, and you know how you can sometimes lose YOU in the chaos of life. For me, fitness is a way to escape that and just be Jasmin for a while, even if it’s only an hour a day. It helps me be a more patient and loving mother, while also making me incredibly happy and comfortable in my own skin (hello, endorphins!). Like a lot of women, I still have a ways to go on my fitness journey, but I also think that makes me more relatable! I am SO excited to get to be a resource to you as you try to better yourself. . . let’s get started!
